Attorney Heard has been practicing law for over 23 years in the areas of personal injury, criminal law, and various civil litigation matters including contracts.  He is presently the owner of DeNorris A. Heard, PC which is boutique law firm that serves the State of Georgia. He was a Judge Pro Temp in the Dekalb County Juvenile Court from 2007-2021. He is licensed to practice law in the Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, Northern District Court of Georgia, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been first chair in over 100 bench and jury trials. He has represented over 3, 500 people over the years. He has served as an Adjunct Professor, Professor and Campus Dean teaching classes such as Criminal Law, Juvenile Law, Business Law, and Law and Ethics. 

He enhances his professional skills through many professional organizations. He has served as Past President of the Gwinnett County Minority Bar Association, member of the Dekalb Lawyers Association, Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.   

In his commitment to community service, he is a Lifetime active member in the Omega Psi Phi, Inc. Fraternity, Inc. and the Rotary Club. He is also a member of Second Mount Vernon Baptist Church. In addition, he is involved in High School Mock Trial teams and competition. He also has served on the Board of Visitors for Presbyterian College.

Attorney Heard is a native of Tucker, Georgia. He was educated in the Dekalb County Public School system and is a graduate of Presbyterian College where he lettered in football and track while receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. He furthered his education at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University where he received his Juris Doctor degree. Attorney Heard’s legal career began as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Michael C. Clark in the Gwinnett County Superior Court. Upon completion of his clerkship, Attorney Heard began his practice of law in the Atlanta-based Law Offices of DeNorris A. Heard, which soon merged to form Long & Heard, LLC, Attorneys at Law.
